It has a wireless network adapter Intel Wireless-AC9560 160MHz. The problem is it randomly stops working. 1st time i faced this issue was in around June,2020. I got freaked out and just did a system restore, and everything came back to normal.

But I started facing this issue again from starting of Oct. The adapter stops working and the wifi stops cause of it. Error message when I go to properties:This device has stopped working (something of this sort)

Locate the drivers you downloaded back in Step 1. Run as administrator, and follow the wizard to completion. To Run as administrator right-click over the file you downloaded and select the option to Run as administrator.

We have not heard back from you, so we will close this inquiry. Please remember to follow the steps given above, and if after that you keep having this problem, you should contact the OEM as this can be a hardware problem.

Hi, I'm having trouble with installing wirless adapter driver on hp pavilion dv6-3225dx, no matter what driver I use, I keep getting an error, that the driver didnt install correctly. The wifi light on the keyboard will not turn off, the light is a constant orange. Please help

So, since you don't see a device labeled Network Controller, and you don't see a wireless network device as well as your wired network device under network adapters, we have to assume at least one of the following things is the cause.

2. The card has been disabled in the BIOS for some reason. Restart the PC, tap the F10 key when you first see the HP welcome screen, and enter the BIOS menu. In the device configuration menu make sure you see your wireless card listed and that it is enabled.

3. You are missing software that also controls turning on and off of the wireless adapter and Bluetooth (if you have bluetooth). Download and install the HP Wireless Assistant to see if the wireless network card can now be seen and turned on with the software.

this model laptop doesn't seem to have a switch. This model has a wifi button on the keyboard to toggle off/on. the orange light means its off. I went to BIOS but this model doesn't have a device configuration only system config. HP Wireless Assistant is already installed and it shows nothing. Once again, the orange light is just on

I am completely confused on this one and at my wits end.
I have a Inspiron M5110 Laptop and was having some trouble staying connected to my internet so this morning I decided I would try and update the drivers. I have uninstalled the Wireless and Blue Tooth drivers and reinstalled them, but now, it won't even TRY to connect at all. In the bottom right corner, there's a red x over the wireless bars, and says No Connections are available. Before , it would have a spinning circle while trying to connect, but it doesnt have that at all anymore. My Ethernet connection is working fine, I even uninstalled and reinstalled that driver (REALTEK) and its working with no problems. So its specifically wireless adapter issue...

Does any body have any suggestions at all as to how I can get this thing to even attempt to connect to a network? I'm dead in the water... ANY insight would be so appreciated. I can paste screen shots or whatever, if you think it would help.

I've installed Linux Mint 16 on a netbook that I'm trying to pump more life into. I'm currently stuck with configuring the wireless as the computer uses a USB wireless adapter (rt5370 from Ralink) due to its own wireless interface being hard blocked (the fn key is broken).

I've tried different drivers, and none of them work. I've also tried finding out what driver the wireless adapter uses (in theory it should be rt5370sta which is what I installed) to no avail. Tried lsusb, lspci -k, and lsmod; but none of them list the driver I need to be using.

Does anyone know whether I'm asking the right question or if the problem lies somewhere else? I was confident this was it as iwlist ra0 does work, and /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf is configured as per the instructions over here:

If you start afresh or if you remove Ralink's drivers, when you plug in the RT5370 you should get a wlan0 interface already.
If you use wpa_supplicant, specify the driver nl80211 when you're starting it, and it should work sweet. To specify the driver with wpa_supplicant, use the -Dnl80211 command line switch.

Recently I decided to use a usb wifi adapter to add another radio device to my router. And the one I have is a Ralink RT5370. So the first thing I need to do is to figure out how to install the driver for the new hardware. After a quick google, I found out that

are the commands that I should probably go for. Though the same commands are popping up everywhere on the internet, all of them are from someone's blog post or forum post. So I felt like it's pretty random, and wondered if there are any systematical way to tell me which driver I should install. I tried to search on the both the ralink and openwrt website, but got no luck.

So are there really some "conventional way" to decide which driver I should use for a new hardware? (aka what keyword should I add to after opkg install ?) I really feel like trying to get this kind of information from someone's blog post seems weird, how did they get the information at the first place?

Other than solving this problem, I am primarily interested in knowing if it is possible to query the adapter for the MAC ID and subsequently know the make and model and manufacturer without the driver in the first place. Any help please. Thanks =)

The wireless card's MAC address may well be written on it (if you can easily remove it) or on the computer (if it's integrated or difficult to access, as on most labtops). Have a look for it on or near the serial number stickers/plates/etchings that are usually somewhere on the underside or back of the computer.

I am having the same issue. I spent a few hours yesterday trying to figure this out but I am still pretty new to Linux so have not had any luck yet. If I figure things out or find a more detailed guide I will share.

Has anyone been able to get this to work with kali? I moved the new driver over to /lib/firmware and disabled the default all fine. I am able to see networks only after turning wifi off and back on in the setting and cannot connect to any. Any thougths?

i have Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 , how do i know the version of my driver , can u write that command line in the 5 step for me ( im Linux beginner and my english is not good sorry ) , have been stuck with no wifi adapter found for 3 days

Thanks! With the dnf provides command I could figure out which package provides the actual blob needed. No Idea why, but non of the iwl* packages were installed. What I did now: # installed the package that provides the blob I copied manually ...

@NoneenoN Glad to see these firmware drivers have finally been added to the dnf package source. When I wrote my original post, this was not yet the case. The steps you provided should be the preferred way to install these drivers on Fedora (and RHEL/CentOS/Rocky) moving forward.

I just purchased a new PC with Windows 10. I'm unable to connect to my wireless router with the WNA 3100 adapter. I was able to install the setup CD on the computer but when I try to open up the WNA 3100 this message comes up: There are no compatible drivers for this device.

After the last update for Windows 11 insider (Home). The driver for the wireless card stopped working. There is already a guide on the issue on Intel's boards, but it is not working either. So i think the issue is with the Windows.

I managed to bring my Killer wireless network adapter back - after wasted a whole morning. Windows updated overnight and I lost the card after that. This was the error I saw in Event Viewer:

@OussD After a lot of research, the problem is usually solved by resetting the bios to default, mainly on dell laptops. The problem is caused after doing bios update or installing windows 11.
Also don't forget to install the updated drivers.

@ballon999 This is not working on my Surface Pro 7. I've tried uninstalling and removing the driver completely several times and each time on the restart it automatically comes back (even when I'm not connected to the internet). I had Windows 11 and reverted back to Windows 10 and still not right.

I had a similar issue when I got my first wifi 6 networking card. My solution was to turn off automatic band selection in the wifi router settings. Apparently the network card couldn't handle when the band changed (something that the router did seemingly randomly), and so the network card errored out and stopped working until it was reset. However, after I turned off automatic band selection there hasn't been another issue, with that machine.

Everyone, try removing the driver then shutting down the OS, not reset/reboot. I've been fighting this for 2 days straight and even after a complete OS reinstall/downgrade from 11 to 10 the problem is still there. Immediately after the reinstall the wifi adapter worked, but after a few reboots it went back to the same issues/events in the system log. Then I tried removing the driver and shutting down completely before powering back on and the wifi is now working. For how long who knows, but give this a shot if you are struggling.

I wanted to install arch on my (Asus Rog Flow X13) and compile Rust with all 16 cores. Funnily enough they equipped this monster of a laptop with a flimsy Network Adapter such as MT7922.
It came with windows and WiFI was working properly there.
