Thank you for signing up for the Sargent Shriver National Center on
Poverty Law’s Clearinghouse Review Editorial Team’ s online discussion
group! We are excited about this opportunity for legal aid advocates
to exchange ideas, comments, questions, and suggestions on long-term
care issues, including new rebalancing initiatives to shift long-term
care services away from institutionalization and toward community
placements.

Hopefully you have had a chance to read Gene Coffey’s Clearinghouse
Review article on Shaping the Future of Long-Term Care: Aging and
Disability Resource Centers and the Role of Title III.B Attorneys,
which is posted in the “Files” section of the discussion group
website. As the discussion begins, I have just a few miscellaneous
pointers to pass on to you.

First, make sure that your email settings are the way you like. All
postings to the discussion group will be emailed to you, but you may
not want to get every posting as a separate email. You may prefer to
choose a digest email or even an abridged email instead. Select one of
these options by clicking the “Edit my membership” link on the right
side of the discussion group website.

Second, if you read a posting that you wish to respond to, it’s as
easy as responding to the email itself. You don’t need to go to the
group website to post a response (although you can if you wish).

Third, remember that this is a public website that can be accessed by
anyone. Use care and caution when discussing specific people or
programs, and avoid discussing anything of a confidential or
privileged nature.

Finally, encourage your colleagues who have not yet joined to sign up
for the group, and please participate yourself! The value of this
discussion hinges on your participation and the participation of
others. We hope you’ll be an active member and that you’ll help to
bring additional ideas into the mix.

Thanks again for joining the discussion group, and we look forward to
hearing from you! If you have any questions about the group, please
email me directly at cschr...@povertylaw.org.
