Is this a case where the scammer took title to the property? And his name doesn't show up on the county property records on other properties?
If that's true, the only other suggestion I have is to check with your secretary of state to see if he has any companies, llc's, etc., that he does business as and then check your county property records again. if still nothing, it is possible that it was a one-off deal.
If he didn't take title to the property, no reason that a property records search would show anything. Can you tell us something more about how the scam worked? Might generate an idea.
