I-69 on MPO meeting agenda, Nov. 8th!

What: Bloomington & Monroe County MPO meeting
When: Friday, Nov. 8th, 1:30 pm
Where: City of Bloomington Showers Complex,
            Council Chambers
            401 N. Morton St. Bloomington, IN 47404

Please attend and help to stop the devastating environmental damage being caused by the I-69 construction.

As construction on I-69 proceeds, runoff and sediment pollution continue to flow from the worksites into our waterways. Little has been done by the State and contractors to remedy this.

An important  item on the MPO's agenda is a proposal to send a letter to US Fish and Wildlife Service asking what is being done to stop the severe sedimentation of our streams, springs and karst features due to runoff from the I-69 construction right-of-way.

CARR suggests that  a letter also be sent to the US EPA. Construction work should be stopped until the erosion and sediment runoff can be contained. Citizens were assured that these problems would not occur. We should make INDOT and FHWA keep their promises.

We urge citizens who see heavily silted streams to report these violations to IDEM and other federal and state regulatory agencies.  Contact us for information on how to do this.

At this time CARR has filed more than 10 formal complaints about this continuing problem.

Thank you again for your continuing support.

Best regards,

Thomas & Sandra
