In addition to the hackathon that is running in April the speaker programme for the Urban Prototyping festival has been announced. It sounds very interesting for Cleanweb folks. Plus its free to attend!

Held from 8 April - 26 June 2013, Sustainable Society Network+ and NEMODE Network+ present Urban Prototyping London Festival.  We will be hosting over 300 developers, architects, designers, artists and technology specialists investigating the role of digital technologies in creating can stimulate and sustaining resilient environments, economies and communities. Come and join the discussion! 

Hosted at Imperial, the conference brings together a number of leading speakers in the Internet of Things, Architecture and Entrepreneurship space, including Mischa Dohler, Jon Goodbun, Professor Erkko Autio and Natalie Jeremijenko to debate the current and future role of technology in the urban environment.  The keynote speaker will Professor Brian Collins, UCL and Chair of the Sustainable Society Network+

R&D focused talks and panel discussion on resilience in digital economy and sustainability in the built environment for an audience of researchers, students and practitioners from ICT/Computer Science and Built Environment backgrounds.

 

15.30 – 17.30 - Digital Works
A Case Study; Smart and Sustainable City
Computer Science vs Design in the Built Environment.
A dynamic, humorous workshop that addresses technical language barrier, underlines gaps, difference in design inspirations and immediate goals set, among technologists and architects. The debate aims to motivate collaboration between researchers, practitioners and inspire young people, looking for a future career in digital economy.

 

18.30 - Tech-Locale
The evening programme for the event brings together industry experts to explain and explore how interdisciplinary understanding can take ideas from the drawing board into profit, for benefit of all stakeholders in society.

Workshops from OS and Imperial College’s Real-time streaming analytics platform teams in preparation for the hackathon 19th-21st April.

 

14.00 – 17.30 - The Internet of Things

This session will explore the role of the Internet of Things for building the Future Sustainable City. The discussion will touch upon technological, sociological and legal topics.

 

18.45  -  21.00  -  IOT Day Showcase

It’s International Internet of Things Day. A showcase with projects such as hardware, commercial products, art installation, citizen science projects and much more.

Prototyping the City – Hellicar + Lewis

 

This workshop is open to all skills and backgrounds and is designed to provide participants first hand experience of the challenges of design for the urban environment.  Starting in the location of the UP London IoT call, Hackney, participants will be able to see with their own eyes the issues that the area needs addressing.  Finishing up with a hands-on rapid prototyping workshop, participants will leave with real conceptual ideas that will have a genuine impact on the urban environment.

 

Skill Level: All levels and all skillsets including design, architecture and technology
