All,
I know it's probably somewhere in plain sight, but I'm not finding instructions on how to use this with Netflix streaming. Can anybody a) tell me where I can find instructions, or b) tell me how to do it?

Thanks

Not implemented yet, though...I hope to get to it sometime, will advise.

Or better yet, would you like to be a beta tester when it comes online?

OK believe it or not I have *still* been mulling this over LOL.

The following would be excellent resources/helps:

1) take a "screen capture" of vidangel (before/if they go down LOL) to show how their UI works.
I won't actually watch it, to avoid concerns of copyright infringement, yet.
Basically for a couple different movies "here's how you watch it with vidangel, here's how you select options" and post it to youtube/demo it.

2) EDL's for DVD's in redbox (I might be able to even pay for somebody to make these maybe).

3) EDL for a movie on amazon prime I want to watch

4) EDL's for netflix in general.

Sorry for the delay here.

I uploaded a video of using filters with VidAngel. Youtube failed, so I used Sendvid instead. There's no actual copyrighted content shown: http://sendvid.com/i4hl99qh

OK good news.  I did not forget your plea to help.
I actually recently discovered that, startingly, thanks to the new HTML5 interface, it is possible to control netflix/amazon using javascript, which tends to be better than doing it the way I was doing it before (though I did have some of that before as well, but only for google play really).

So I went ahead and hacked up a prototype.

Basically if you'd like to help (or anybody else) try creating a new cut list for a new netflix (or whatever), and see if the edits take.  And make a movie of it.  After that in order to try and protect myself from patent legal issues, I have to offer it "for sale in the US" so maybe you could buy a license from me for $2 or so, but that's later.
I'm here to help.
Thanks!

OK I did get it working, you can try it out and see if it works for you:

go here:

then (assuming chrome browser) view menu -> developer -> javascript console

then paste this in and hit enter.

javascript:(function(e,s){e.src=s;e.onload=function(){jQuery.noConflict();;};document.head.appendChild(e);})(document.createElement('script'),'//rawgit.com/rdp/sensible-cinema/master/html5_javascript/kemal_server/edit_descriptors/' + encodeURIComponent (encodeURIComponent(window.location.href.split("?")[0])) + ".rendered.js"); // double encode needed :|

Then "seek" back to the beginning.
You should see a few cool things going on, like mutes, skips, and "fast forward with decreased volume"

The bad news first: it appears from Netflix' terms of use that you can't "insert" code like this to do stuff.  So I might not be able to actually pursue this slant.  I'll ask a lawyer.
The medium news: I will try and ask netflix for "permission" to do this.  Who knows maybe they'll say yes.  Low chance.
More medium news: if they do say no, I have a backup plan (you capture the monitor output, parse out the timestamps, and then use that to do a global system mute or overlay a window to make it "imperceptible" as it were.
More medium news: it still works with amazon prime and google play (and, startlingly, other weirder stuff like "disneymovieanywhere.com
And more good news: even if all of them were to shut us out in terms of use, we could go back to the timestamp parser method (at least...I hope). So the timestamps would still be good.

OK so let me know how that goes y'all.
If you want to really go crazy I made a kind of web interface to the edits here:
You could add another mute or add it for a whole new video :).

Basically what I'd like back from this is "yeah, it does seem to work on my computer" nothing fancy.

Next question: what do y'all "want" or "wish" from this edited playback?  What would the ideal be? (besides a better website I realize that LOL).  How important is "free vs. pay" in this debate? What would you pay for it? (I might still just make it free dunno yet).
What about netflix vs. amazon prime?

Thanks!

I got the updated version working on my computer with no problem.

As far as what I want from it...I'd really like to be able to create edl files when none exist, and it should be in as few clicks as possible without much editing. One of the shortcomings of Sensible Cinema is that the edl files won't work until formatted properly. I tinkered with the code enough to make mine work as wanted, but (not knowing ruby) it took me a while. I'd also like to be able to set my own filters on the fly for edl's that already exist. I use Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon, so I would like to see support for all three.

As far as price, I definitely support a pay option. How much depends on the features and how much user-editing is required, but the software you've already released is worth far more than $2 in my opinion. If it worked in 1-2 clicks I would be willing to pay $30 or maybe even more. Once again, I'm thankful for all your hard work and support. Glad to help any way I can.

OK I have actually been working a bit to make it "take fewer clicks"
Anyway its current state is here:

http://cleanstream.inet2.org/index

Feel free to dink around with it, I dunno if it's ready for the "real public" yet, mostly will continue working on making it user friendly.

Thus far I plan on tracking this per film (ignore the NOT NULL stuff):

   url           TEXT    NOT NULL,
   name          TEXT    NOT NULL,
   editing_notes TEXT    NOT NULL,
   age_recommendation_after_edited INT NOT NULL,
   wholesome_uplifting_level INT   NOT NULL,
good_movie_rating INT NOT NULL, -- our rating out of 10
review TEXT NOT NULL, -- our rating explanation, age recommendation explanation :)
   amazon_episode_number INTEGER NOT NULL,
   amazon_episode_name TEXT NOT NULL

if I'm missing anything let me know.
Will keep this space updated.
Actually, if somebody wants to test it out, feel free to try and use that website and follow the instructions and see if you can come up with a movie 'edited" and give me some feedback here.
Thanks!

Yes that's right.
OK I changed it to not show that error if a movie is submitted twice (plus many other things).
try it out and tell me "what you want" as it were (what's broken, what lacks).
there's even instructions on using a chrome plugin, you can try that too, though it's not published per se yet.
Thanks!
