Lee: This job takes 2 people. A really cheap tester like $4 just for
"hot" or "not" is needed - try it on various wires including the one
in question - if it IS hot - start shutting off breakers until you
shut the one off that kills the garage wire in question. Not that it
is NOT hot you can cut a sample of the wire for identification
purposes. With solid core copper wire itthe gauge is based on the
wires diameter, you are going to need more if it anyway if it is size
12 or larger - so you simply shop for the match. Also if it was hot
and one of the circuit breakers killed it you now know which circuit
breaker it was, 110 or 220 and how many amps. The amps need to match
what is good for your kiln. Actually there are small kilns available
for any amperage. I am assuming this kiln is for bisqueing good sized
pieces in quantity, unless you are going into the Dark Side - cone
six!!!
