We both started off in Japan with Smith & Hawken's plastic garden
clogs. (the gardener at Green Gulch field tested them for S&H.)
You had to wear slip ons at Shimaoka's because you were always taking
your shoes off to enter a bulding or get on the throwing platform
often with a board of pots on your shoulder.
They were like wearing toboggans on snow or mud, so never worn in
the winter when snow was on the ground.
