Check this out - Resource Exchange Network for Eliminating Waste
(RENEW). This is for EPA Region 6 (Arkansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma,
Louisiana and Texas). Companies exchange or give away materials; many
are free and some are in small quantities; some come with analysis and
data sheets. Some of these things might interest potters. Items will
not be listed like typical pottery supply houses list them, so just
scroll through categories and make your calls or send emails for
details like mesh sizes, shipping, quantities, etc.). One could have
zinc oxide, 100 pounds - free, for example (it lists for $14.00 per
pound at one of my local pottery supplies). One could probably find
the web site for other US regions if interested. I'm going to call on
wood bark ash, some sands and glasses, and some metals.

Pretty neat, Marian. Thanks for the link. It's almost enough to tempt
me
to move down to Region 6 !
