Hay Crew,

Gee it's still kinda crappy out there and I haven't seen any jobs listed worth applying to so I'm staying in and seeing what I can come up with that will finish the front part of the Hobagama load...

As usual click the photo or next to move along. The text below the shot should explain what I was thinking which means I might have already changed my mind. I'm looking at the last shelf I found and it looks pretty rough with glazed on crap and cleaning could break it so I might need to order a few more shelves to be on the safe side for the hottest part of the load.

I managed to get some new Carhartt insulated bibs so I can go out and do things better but it also might mean I'll find a real job and have to work outside for someone else the rest of the winter. Might be good for me, I hear it develops character.

The front of the load?? I'd have to put in the huge tsubos and Mei-
Ping jars, etc. and maybe bury some teabowls and platters in the
coals, huh?

Ya man, and I just figured out I'm for sure short one 12"x24" kiln shelf because that last one I found inside the house turned out to be my designated active damper shelf...

... so I just might need to use a couple old Cordarite shelves I've had to high temperature before, one is warped like a bird wing, but they had been out in the weather for a long time. I'm setting them up in the rafters with the 16,000Btu. Timken oil furnace blowing on them for a couple weeks in hopes it will suck out any moisture. Maybe a couple hours in the oven before sticking it in the kiln will finish it off.

Last night I lit a pignose fire to warm things up so I can finish off the top of the mid-front and kiln wash the floor of the front setting. I have the pieces to fill that spot if I don't glaze them but I still need more for above that... bigger stuff I tried throwing ain't quite a foot yet but have potential for being Dragon Pots. To tell ya the truth I'm almost getting tired of making stuff to fill yet another cranny but I don't want to waste too much space. Whatever I do I better get to doing it even if it's wrong eh!
