Hello everyone,

I have found a kiln that suits my needs and is not too far away. I’ll be
moving it sometime next week depending on the weather. It’s not a huge kiln
but I've never moved a kiln. So I was just wondering if some more
experienced folks might have some advice. Here’s all the info about the
kiln.

It’s a fiber kiln with a metal frame.

Some pictures of the kiln can be seen at the following link :

Its measurements :

Height 5ft 9in (without the chimney damper, which can be removed)

Width 3ft 9in

Depth 3ft 2in

Weight : around 550lbs

We have a tractor with a forklift to load it, but probably just manpower to
unload it.

My transportation solution is to strap down on an open trailer (it's really
the only transport option I have right now)

I've tried to prepare as best I can, but any suggestions about moving it
are welcome.

Thanks,

Jeremy

Depending on the state of the road that you will be traveling on you
might want to rethink using a trailer unless it has shocks as well as
springs. A pickup would be a better option. If you have to use a trailer
I would lay it on it's back on top of an old mattress and fill the
inside with a bag of shipping peanuts to keep everything from shifting
around. The kiln looks like it has barely been fired which is good
because kaowool becomes much more brittle with use. Avoid potholes!!
