Usually the bolt that serves as the pivot for the foot pedal has a nut with
a nylon insert inside. This kind of nut (Nyloc lock nut) stays in place
but can be adjusted and then will stay as set.
If your current pedal flops around, try adjusting (tighten) that nut. When
properly adjusted you will be able to set the speed and remove your foot.
If your pedal isn’t as described, buy a nyloc nut and a Belleville spring
washer. Remove the existing nut and install the washer cup side in, install
the Nyloc nut over that. This combination should allow you to set it and
forget it, as Ron Popele used to say.

Hello,
Usually the bolt that serves as the pivot for the foot pedal has a

a nylon insert inside. This kind of nut (Nyloc lock nut) stays in
place
but can be adjusted and then will stay as set.
If your current pedal flops around, try adjusting (tighten) that nut.
When
properly adjusted you will be able to set the speed and remove your
foot.
If your pedal isn’t as described, buy a nyloc nut and a Belleville
spring
washer. Remove the existing nut and install the washer cup side in,
install
the Nyloc nut over that. This combination should allow you to set it
and
forget it, as Ron Popele used to say.

Looking at the pictures on the google, I think any modification would make
it harder to use. I guess I need to read the original post better or at
all?!?
