I have made chrome green for 60 years.
I never depend on copper for green. And remember
wherever you have copper in a salt soda reduction glaze
you get red, pink, or purple.
The Koreans made a marvelous green. It was the
national color. The Japanese brought the Korean potters
to Japan under the threat of death. If you say "Oribe"
your brain thinks green.
I have made green shino...I love it.
Start with one of your favorite glazes...make
two gallons of base. Start adding chrome...fire and check, or
add more chrome, and then some more. When you get the
green you like....stop adding chrome.
If I was doing it...I would start with Leach 1234 and a bit of zircopax.
add chrome a bit at a time. see what happens.
Use a yogurt container for 1234, and teaspoons for chrome.
When you get a perfect green and people ask for the recipe, you just
shrug and say...."I don't know, never wrote it down". Now it is yours.
