Thank you Owen and thank you to all who sent birthday wishes, your
friendship and thoughtfulness made an old man feel younger.
Just a few words about my co-author John Hesselberth. John has had
some health issues and is no longer making pots either.
John is what I would call a perfect partner - anyone entering a
partnership should hope and pray for one like him.
When we had finished writing Mastering Cone 6 Glazes we had to make an
agreement - how to split the profits (if any) and John proposed a
50/50 split. I said - but you did most of the work and you should get
more. John said, with that wry grin, "but you are the pretty face".
Meaning my reputation would sell more books.
He is one of the finest people I know and without his skill and
dedication there would not have been our additional understanding to
studio pottery.
To all of you who understand the integrity of lining your functional
ware with stable glazes - thank you - may the force be with you.
