Or should we say: "De-Flock"

On a Hobby Farm I built up in the early 1980's,
my 6 month old Tom Cat, named Uno, was beginning to demonstrate a curious interest in the chickens. As he matured he would instinctively consider them for dinner.

So I prepared a 5 x 5 inch square, of a 1 inch thick soft pine board.

Then I dumped a pail of shelled corn in a pile (the Flockulant)

And when the chickens were "Flocked" around the corn

I tossed Tom Cat Uno (the De-flockulant") into the middle of the gathered Chickens

Of course the Flock, in a cackling wings flapping melee De-Flocked.

End of story? not quite yet!........Tom Cat Uno was dancing among the De-Flockers standing on his hind legs, claws extended on waving front legs, attempting to catch dinner.

At this point in this episode, from a concealed position behind the corn crib I threw the 5" X 5" X 1" pine board as if throwing a Ninja style "Throwing Star" at the dancing Uno's shoulder.

It sharply connected with Uno on his shoulder. Not injured, but surprise that "Chickens" had such serious clout, Tom Uno first tried escaping by running upright, using his hind legs only. Then he reversed ends and ran head downward using his front legs only.

Tom Uno traveled 10 meters distance before his discombobulated brain regained control and reminded him that he was really physically equipped to travel fastest as a quadruped.

Tom Uno lived a long secure life while keeping a wary distance from the chickens who went about their chicken Flocking and D-Flocking business.

Our words usually mean what they define or demonstrate...we just need to pay attention.....and think about ways to understand and apply in practical applications.

Love,
Woof....................................................................................................................................................................................

David,
Don’t you ever leave clay art!

When I decided to study mechanical engineering alongside my art major, I encountered the difficult task of completing two quarters of Thermodynamics. The instructor, Professor Joshi, was keen to have students visit him in his office and discuss whatever. His lectures, while technically accurate floated over the heads of most, including me. A passing grade was assured if one spent enough time in his office talking about whatever.

One day, while sipping beers at the local college favorite establishment, my friend Rick Meyer’s said to me, “You know Paul, you can hit a baseball farther on a hot humid day than on a fair-weather day. A light came on for me! For all those Joshi lectures, this one everyday example answered all those thermodynamic lectures questions that Joshi talked over.

Bringing deflock and flocculation into chicken space is wonderful! Did you ever listen to “The Ozark Mountain Daredevils” and their tune “Chicken Train”? If so, we are on the same page!
Paul

Paul,
I try to apply "R. E. I. A." to my personal learning as well as sharing practical knowledge gained from experience.

( R ) for "Read".......( E ) for "Explain"......... ( I ) for "Illustrate"..........( A ) for "Apply"

I like your "baseball on a Humid Day" example of how the light came on for you regarding Thermodynamics.

Calls to mind that if one can't explain it simply, one doesn't know it well enough.

We need to be out there with more than our thumbs on the key pad to gain the deeper sense of what ever is a personal challenge for us. Answers come during our moments of recepitivity while experiencing Wonder and Awe.

Be a it Paul !!!!

Misneach,
