working on the issue #614

Hello clawpack-users,

My name is Paul and I want to contribute to the pyclaw project.
As a start I selected the issue #614.
I roughly understand the issue, but can't grasp it fully.
Can somebody explain the me the issue in more detail?
And tell me what the desired outcome of the change is and where a good entry point in the code would be?
That would be really helpful!
