How to install Geo-Claw？

Dear Clawpack Development Team 

I hope this email finds you well.

I am a graduate student majoring in Physical Geography at Nanjing Normal University. My current research focuses on. I have become deeply interested in using GeoClaw for my research after learning about its powerful capabilities in simulating geophysical flows.

However, coming from a geography background, I find my computer science and programming foundations to be somewhat limited. I have spent considerable time exploring the official website, but I am struggling to follow the installation instructions and am finding it difficult to complete the setup or understand the initial steps of operation.

I am writing to respectfully ask if there is a comprehensive User Reference Manual or a step-by-step guide specifically designed for beginners? Any documentation or advice that could help someone with my background get started with GeoClaw would be incredibly valuable to my academic work.

Sorry that you have been having problems installing GeoClaw. The simplest approach might be to download the recent tarfile, and then set environment variables CLAW and PYTHONPATH to point to the top level directory after untarring it, as described at
