Hello Team,
Can anybody explain why these two adjacent red dots occur in the Lax-Friedrich scheme?

lax Friedrichs is a monotone scheme (so the dots don't oscillate) but it is decoupled, so the dots next to each other are "independent", so to speak.

The Rusanov scheme is also monotone so why  don't these problems arise ?

I forget what the rusanov scheme is, but it must be more tightly coupled than Lax friedrichs.

If you look at the LF stencil, it skips a point, the RHS uses i-1 and i+1, but not the point i.  That leads to odd/even decoupling.
