Ghadeer-e-KhumDescription: cid:image002.jpg@01CB87CD.BA92CF20Description: cid:image003.jpg@01CB87CD.BA92CF20

Ghadeer-e-khum is the name of a vast open tract of land lying between Mecca Mukarramah and Medina Munawwara where Rasulullah (SAW) performed nass on Amir ul Mumineen (SAW) on the 18th of Zilhaj. While returning from Mecca after performing his last and solitary Haj, Rasulullah (SAW) camped at Ghadeer-e-Khum along with 70,000 muslimeen who had accompanied him. Using a make shift minbar erected from the wood of trees, towering above the vast multitude and lifting Maulana Ali (SA) with both his hands, Rasulullah (SAW) performed nass and appointed him as his Wasi, Khalifa and successor. This event, as observed in Quran, marked the completion of deen and Islam. The last and the most important de'amat of Islam-walayat- was revealed. For three consecutive days, the 70,000 people present filed in to give the misaaq (oath of allegiance) to Rasulullah (SAW) for his Wasi and gave safaqat to both of them.

The word "Ghadeer" in Arabic means a pool of water. It is also a derivation of the word "ghadr", meaning betrayal. Immediately after pledging the oath to Maulana Ali (SA), a renegade faction of munafiqeen breached the trust and betrayed him. This legacy of betrayal has continued throughout the ages.

Today, this place lies obscured among the vast barren deserts of Saudi Arabia. Only munineen, the true believers of Maulana Ali (SA); the followers of his Dai, know exactly where Ghadeer-e-khum is and visit the site.

In the year 1355H., Syedna Taher Saifuddin (RA) accompanied by Aqa Maula (TUS) went for pilgrimage to Haj and other holy places.

Returning from Medina, and on the way to Jeddah, Syedna Taher Saifuddin (RA) reached Johfah. After praying namaaz here in a masjid, he asked the local guide about Ghadeer-e-khum. Most guides denied having any knowledge about Ghadeer-e-khum. One guide, however, revealed that nearby was a place called "Qasr-e-Abyaz." Syedna Taher Saifuddin (RA) decided to visit the place. As the cars moved along, they reached a hillock; the remaining path was inaccessible by any vehicle. Syedna Taher Saifuddin (RA) alighted from the car and climbed the hillock. The guide, then, pointed towards a structure visible in front of them which he said was Qasr-e-Abyaz. Immediately and intuitively, Syedna Taher Saifuddin (RA) confirmed that the particular place was in fact Ghadeer-e-khum. Walking on foot, he approached the sacred place. In a masjid built on that very site Syedna prayed namaaz, recited qasaid and took misaaq of those munineen present. The place perfectly matched the description of Ghadeer-e-khum as mentioned in the records. Accordingly, Ghadeer-e-khum is situated at a distance of 3 miles from Johfah. It is the most expansive tract of land found between Mecca and Medina and can easily accommodate more than a lakh people.

Every year on the 18th of Zilhaj, mumineen renew their misaaq, oath of allegiance to Maulana Ali's (SA) Dai, Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin <(TUS). May Allah grant our Maula (TUS) a long, healthy and prosperous life till the day of Qayamat

Was Salaam
