Accuracy Spring Camp - Skydive Marana

As most of you know one of the best places to train for accuracy
jumping closed this winter. Tony Frost and Greg Behrens of Marana
Skydiving Center both retired from the Drop zone business. However,
Tony is interested in opening the Dropzone for an informal training
camp for Accuracy Jumpers only. The dates are going to be from January
15th. March 30th. There are several details listed below that are very
important for you to know if we are going to have a successful
training camp.
1. We will only have one airplane flying jumpers. This means will
never have more than 12-16 people at any time at the camp (preferably
12). Please get with Mery Rose or Stu Hayes before buying airplane
tickets so we can work out the best available training dates. Teams
and individuals must organize with each other to keep the airplane and
training camp full for the 2 and 1/2 months. All bookings are first
come first served.
2. The dropzone will be open 5 days a week Tuesday - Saturday from 8am
until sunset.
3. The only equipment supplied by Marana Skydiving Center will be the
airplane and tuffet. So you and your groups must bring a scorepad or
have permission to use someone else's. You should also consider
bringing your sensitive windsocks, tarps, weights, chairs, etc...
4. Because the MSC is shutdown dropzone and rigging services will be
at a minimum. Please come with your reserves in date and make sure to
bring all your equipment (altimeters, hats, goggles etc...) If you do
need a repack due to an emergency at the camp please allow 24-48 hours
for a repack. Greg will be flying and Stu will be running manifest. We
are the only staff. Tony is busy running his new oil company and won't
be available for dropzone issues.
5. We will not open during any given week if there aren't at least 9
people jumping. So you must organize your training camp dates with
others in your tight knit community to keep the planes flying.
6. The price of accuracy jumps is $10/person with a 3 person minimum/
lift.
7. There will be no other types of jumping going on such as style,
students, tandems, or RW. This camp is for accuracy jumpers only.
8. As usual Stu's Bunkhouse will be available at first come first
serve at $14/night/person/bed. Team discounts available. Anyone on a
couch will pay $8/night. There have been some nice improvements since
last year!
We would like for us to be open all 2 and 1/2 months. However there
may be weeks that we shut down if there aren't enough folks to keep
the planes running. Talk to everyone you know and lets fill these
dates and get everyone trained for the up and coming season. If this
training camp is successful we will do it again next year. Our goal is
to have a quiet low key Spring Training Camp for accuracy jumpers for
many years to come. Looking forward to seeing everyone again at MSC!
