I got those new rear suspension knuckles in place yesterday and today. The
rear swing arms didn't quite give totally clear access, so I had to pry the
trumpets/rubber cones to the side to get them out. Going back in was much
easier, but I did discover the issue about it being hard to keep the rubber
boots on the new knuckle cups. Thanks for your wisdom on the phone!
To everybody,
I did a big load of work on my Mini this weekend and now have new shocks,
new brakes (slave cylinders, shoes, drums), new flexible brake lines, some
new hard brakes lines, new rear suspension knuckles, new clutch slave
cylinder and a couple other little bits.
The engine hasn't been run in months, but I turned it over today and got oil
pressure. Everything looked and sounded very good so I figured I'd start it
up. After reconnecting the coil and pulling some choke to run it, I cranked
it a few times. Then it dawned on me that the tank was empty! (Had to remove
it for the left rear shock.) Doh! :-)
By this time it was evening, and seeing as how my "garage" is my gravel
driveway I got sensible and called it a night.
Tomorrow I've just got to get some gas, bleed and adjust the brakes, start
it up and then check everything over. Assuming there are no surprises it
should be roadworthy! Woo hoo!
Cheers.
