[63 64club ] 64 cadillac parking brake is stuck and lever is broken !

Hey guys so I have a 63 Cadillac and recently the brake was applied but when I used the manual release lever it broke off. Now the brake is stuck and I don't know how to disengage it. I was hoping someone here would know how to disengage it. I can't even move the car into my garage!

Doesn't it have the vacuum release? start engine put it in gear the brake should release....If you can't start the car,find the brokenend of the cable and clamp i vise grip pliers on it,also spray cable underneath the car with WD40....

if you get up under there where the pedal goes up, you will see a ratcheting mechanism. its probably rusty, your vacuum release probably dosent work and be sure the release lever is really not there and not just up in there further than you thought. at the ratchet, it will be fairly self explanatory how to stick a flat head in the ratcheting and release it. there is a good possibility that the return spring dosent work so pull up on the pedal, pulling up on it alone might release it

Thanks guys I finally got it released it was the the ratchet part i stuck a wrench in between and it required quite a push
but it came right out! thanks a bunch saved me so much trouble!

jack the car up and follow the ER cable there is usually a threaded adjustment rod befor the cable spits to the rear wheels.
