Dear classEx team,

I am currently working on developing a game where students are initially assigned different resources (e.g., half receive 12 units of wine, while the other half receive 24 units of clothes) and can make or accept publicly posted offers. I was considering using the contract element for this, but I am not sure if it supports barter exchange rather than using a currency like euros.

If contract is not the best option for this type of game, I would greatly appreciate any suggestions on alternative elements I could use, or if it would be better to write custom program code for this purpose.

Thank you very much!

Sincerely,
Minxi Lin

Dear Minxi Li,

barter trade may be a bit tricky with the contract element as everything in specific in Euros.

Here are two games that you can look at for an inspiration:
Interest Rate Parity (folder international monetary) is an order book where we trade fish and rabbit for each other.
Gains from Trade (forlder standard game) is very close to the Ricardian model that you have in mind.

Best, Marcus
