Hello,

I have just started using classEx and I had a question in the Standard public goods game. I see that it is designed to have participants so that they can split into groups of 4.

I was wondering what happens if one cannot split all participants into groups of 4 and some students are left out. We ran this experiment in the classroom and we used test participants as a result and it worked, but I was wondering if there was a better way to deal with this in the future.

Thanks!

Kind regards,
Revati

Dear Revati,

the standard setting is that missing players are replaced with computerized Nash players (giving 0) if they cannot split into groups of 4 or if participants drop out through the experiment.

By using test players you can also play other strategies. Or you copy the game and program the computerized players differently. But I guess Nash players is the easiest benchmark to take.

Best, Marcus
