Subject: Same old stories

Yesterday I met with Dr. and Mrs. Katiyar at their son-in-law's place in Viman Nagar, Pune. Unfamiliar part of Pune for me, but not difficult to find. We chatted about this and that, old times, grand-children, etc.

Katiyar's grouch was that people have not paid heed to his repeated requests - his most convenient e-mail ID is his yahoo ID. Not his hotmail or gmail IDs. So this is the first point to note.

Because of the above, he had not received the competed biographies that I had sent out, around July 2016. I have corrected this by separate mails to VSK. Hope the rest of you got this/these mail/s.

Then I thought, being an auspicious day, 26 of Jan, with patriotic songs song blaring in the neighbourhood, I thought I would make one more attempt to wake up some sleeping dogs.

Ever since I started this exercise, I have maintained two categories of files - Completed and Working. As bios have got completed, they have been moved from the Working group to the Completed group. Most of you have got the Completed group.

So today, I concentrated on the Working group. To those of you who find your names on files in the attachments to this mail, please, pretty please:

- Look at your file.

- If you feel that what is there is what you want share, then so be it. Let me know and I will move your file to the Completed group.

- If you want to add/ modify your file, please do so.

The only guideline that I can suggest is that: please complete your "basic data" - present contact details, present family details - names, education levels, profession/ occupation, details of each family member including spouse of your children, etc. The last part is a free-flowing part with your professional and personal history - jobs, durations, positions, recognitions /awards (padma bhishan, etc.) , frustrations, joys, etc. You might look up some of the biographies in the "Completed" lot to get ideas on what you want (and don't want) to share. Photographs would be welcome. I cannot guarantee that all photos will be included. You will have to trust my judgement on this. But the pictures will find  a place on the Google photos web-album that I am simultaneously running

Some of the files in the working group (e.g. Harbans Lal) only need to be updated. Some the files (e.g. Rabi Lochan, Murthy, Perwaiz) have very little. I have even started DK Jain's working file, though, in recent times, he probably has been the most communicative. And then there are those who are far too busy to ...

Not to forget the "Completed" guys. Update your files. We need to keep doing this till we are ready to close this bloody business.

So help me out. Before I give up on this, too, like the requiem to Pyda Rao.
