True limit of 16383 targets for a custom, target database?

I can use CLARK-S with custom targets if I keep the number of targets below 16383. However, if I include my desired number of targets (>19,000), I get the following error:

The number of targets exceeds the limit (16383).

Please modify the targets definition to satisfy this limit.

The program must exit.

Is this a true limit of CLARK-S? If so, does a workaround exist?

Hello Jason,

 Yes, there is (truly) a limit in the number of targets. It is 65535 (2^16-1) in CLARK and CLARK-l, and 16383 (2^14-1) in CLARK-S.

These limits can be increased (at a cost of higher memory usage) so please tell us more about the context and the type of data you want to use CLARK-S with.
