Hi,
I was trying to install CLARK-S on my laptop (core i7, 8G RAM), I followed the step for installing and in step 1 ( Create the discriminative 31-mers), I got this error message.
CLARK version 1.2.3 (UCR CS&E. Copyright 2013-2016 Rachid Ounit, roun...@cs.ucr.edu)
The program did not find the database files for the provided settings and reference sequences. The program will build them.
Starting the creation of the database of targets specific 31-mers from input files...
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::bad_alloc'
  what():  std::bad_alloc
Aborted (core dumped).
What is the problem? and how can I fix it?
Best
Parviz

Hello Parviz,

Given the current version (v1.2.3), you can NOT install/run CLARK-S on a 8GB RAM machine, because it is RAM-intensive (you need at least 160 GB of RAM), as explained in the CLARK website, the README file or our related peer-reviewed publication.

If you cannot install/run it then you may want to consider using the insideDNA platform (see tutorial below):

Cheers,
Rachid
