WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 30, 2004--On May 27, the
Washington Convention and Tourism Corporation (WCTC) kicks off
"America Celebrates the Greatest Generation," a three-month-long
tribute to the sacrifices made by Americans during World War II. WCTC
challenged Fahey/Davidson to develop a logo that captures the spirit
of the event, which features the dedication of the National World War
II Memorial.
The logo will appear in brochures, web pages, advertisements,
banners and other Greatest Generation promotional material as well as
on commemorative keepsakes of the event, which runs from May 27 to
September 7.
Dawn Poker, executive vice president for WCTC, said that the
Greatest Generation celebration is anticipated to draw an additional
one million visitors to the city this summer. "We expect to see a
cross section of people including those who lived through the era,
their children and their grandchildren," Poker said. "With such wide
appeal, we needed a logo that not only recalls the war years but
brings them to life as well."
Howard Schwartz, creative director of Fahey/Davidson said, "Being
that the World War II dedication ceremony is one of the tributes
largest events, the logo had to strike a balance between the respect
due the men and women who fought and the celebratory nature of the
Greatest Generation event."
