SACRAMENTO (Reuter) -- The New York Knicks try to match
their season-high seven-game winning streak Thursday as they
travel to Sacramento to face the Kings.
New York has the fourth best record in the Eastern
Conference, two games behind the Miami Heat for the Atlantic
Division lead. The Knicks have been tough defensively, not
allowing 100 points in their last eight games. New York is 33-7
when holding an opponent below the century mark.
John Starks knocked down a three-pointer at the buzzer to
lift New York past the Suns, 95-94, on Tuesday. Patrick Ewing
had 31 points and 13 rebounds for the Knicks, who erased a
16-point third-quarter deficit to win for the 20th time in their
last 21 games at home. New York is making a habit of coming
from behind, as the Knicks erased a 19-point deficit in a win
against Indiana on Sunday.
The Kings denied the Minnesota Timberwolves an attempt to
reach the .500 mark with a 95-84 victory on Tuesday. Mitch
Richmond scored 20 points and Olden Polynice added 17 and a
season-high 21 rebounds for the Kings, winners of three straight
home games.
Richmond, tied for third in the NBA in scoring, has topped
the 30-point mark in four of his last six games. The Kings are
holding on to the seventh spot in the Western Conference, just a
half-game ahead of the Los Angeles Clippers.
Sacramento is trying to avenge a 115-101 loss in New York on
November 30. Ewing had 29 points and 14 boards in the win.
