Bushes to skip daughters' graduations

WASHINGTON, May 7 (UPI) -- The White House has announced
U.S. President George Bush and first lady Laura Bush will not attend
their daughters' university graduations.
The decision was made to spare the families of other
graduates the security disruption and distraction, White House
spokesman Gordon Johndroe told CNN Thursday.
"They want the focus to be on the graduates and their
families and not how long they're going to have to wait to go
through the metal detectors," Johndroe said.
Of the twin daughters, Jenna Bush is an English major at the
University of Texas at Austin, while Barbara Bush is majoring in
humanities at Yale University.
