FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) -- A teen-ager convicted of hiring her
boyfriend and another teen to kill her millionaire parents was
sentenced Thursday to life in prison.
Kristi Koslow, 19, was convicted of murder Wednesday in the
death of her stepmother, oil heiress Caren Koslow. Prosecutors said
she wanted her adoptive father and stepmother's fortune.
Jack Koslow, who survived the 1992 attack, had said his daughter
deserved to die. He quickly left the courtroom without commenting
after District Judge Bob Gill approved the jury's recommendation.
Ms. Koslow could have been sentenced to death.
Ms. Koslow's boyfriend, Brian Salter, and Jeffrey Dillingham
told authorities that they broke down the couple's bedroom door and
attacked them with a metal pry bar and a knife. Both were 19 at the
time.
Dillingham beat the couple unconscious, then Salter cut their
throats, they told police. Both were convicted in the case.
Dillingham was sentenced to death; Salter received a life sentence
in a plea agreement.
Salter testified that Ms. Koslow plotted the murders, supplied
him with a map of the house and gave him the code to the burglar
alarm.
