Chinese movie wins at Tribeca film fest

NEW YORK, May 10 (UPI) -- "Green Love," an erotic Chinese
film about love won the top prize at New York's Tribeca Film
Festival.
The movie was named best narrative feature and its director,
Liu Fen Dou, won as best new narrative filmmaker, the New York Daily
News reported Monday. The nine-day festival featured 250 films from
42 countries.
"I came from Beijing and I hope that when you watch my film
it can bring us closer, like I feel closer to this city," Dou said
as he accepted his awards from legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese.
The Audience Award was given to "Every Mother's Son," a
documentary about three New York mothers whose sons were killed by
police officers.
Brazilian star Fernanda Montenegro won as best actress in a
narrative feature for her role as a police informant in "The Other
Side of the Street."
Ian Hart won best actor in a narrative feature for playing
an Irish nationalist who befriends an English journalist while in
captivity in Lebanon in "Blind Flight."
Awards were handed out Sunday at the Tribeca Performing Arts
Center.
