Bernie Boucher Retires after Nearly 40 Years in Railroading
----------------------------------------------------------------------
WINNIPEG, Manitoba--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 29, 2004--OmniTRAX
Canada today announced the retirement of Executive Vice President,
Bernie Boucher. Mr. Boucher is also the President of the Churchill
Gateway Development Corporation (CGDC). His retirement from both
positions will be effective May 15, 2004.
In making the announcement, Mr. Boucher said: "I have worked
almost 40 years in the railroad industry and decided it is time to
devote more time to my family and my private endeavors. After much
thought and many discussions with my family and my colleagues, I have
decided to retire now because I have reached all the professional
goals I had set out to accomplish. We have made great strides this
year already with CGDC with significant opportunities to diversify and
grow the traffic moving through Churchill but there is a lot of work
left to do to achieve our long-term goals. I believe the CGDC is well
on its way."
Mike Ogborn, Managing Director of OmniTRAX, said: "We shall sorely
miss Bernie's experience, leadership, and direction in our operations
in Canada. In his five years with us, he took an underutilized rail
line and Port to new heights of success. Bernie has always been a hard
working person; always willing to take on any task asked of him and
does a superlative job with it. We wish him well in the future."
During his tenure with OmniTRAX, Mr. Boucher served as the Chief
Operating Officer of the OmniTRAX Canadian operations, head of
marketing for all the OmniTRAX operations in North America, and, most
recently, as President of the CGDC. In that latter position, he was
responsible for the overseeing the private/public partnership created
among the Government of Manitoba, Western Economic Diversification,
and OmniTRAX with the purpose of diversifying the type freight handled
through the Port of Churchill.
Before joining OmniTRAX in 1999, Mr. Boucher worked at Canadian
National Railway in various senior management positions.
OmniTRAX Canada operates the Hudson Bay Railway and the Hudson Bay
Port Company in Manitoba, the Carlton Trail Railway in Saskatchewan,
and the Okanagan Valley Railway and the TransCanada Switching Company
in British Columbia. OmniTRAX is the largest privately held short line
railroad holding company in North America.
