JERUSALEM, June 7 (UPI) -- Palestine Garments Co. and British-based
Claremont Garments have entered a joint venture to manufacture 3,000
pairs of jeans in the West Bank town of Nablus for export to Britain,
the weekly Jerusalem Times newspaper reported Friday.
Claremont, one of the largest suppliers to the British retailer Marks
& Spencer, recently flew technical experts into Palestinian self-rule
areas to help set up a pilot production line, the report said.
Representatives of the Palestinian company said exports to Britain
have already started and they hope to receive an additional order for
some 2,000 pairs of jeans per week, the newspaper said.
