TOKYO, May 3 (UPI) -- A Japanese ministry is expected to
file charges against Mitsubishi Motors alleging that the auto giant
submitted false reports on accidents.
The reports include one that blamed maintenance of a trailer
truck for the death of a woman struck by a tire on a Yokohama
highway, according to Kyodo News. The woman's two children were also
hit by the tire and were injured. A later study by the company
showed that some Mitsubishi trucks developed cracks in the wheel
hubs.
Kanagawa Police are investigating the company and seven of
its current or former executives.
Police suggest that two former top executives encouraged a
false report on the fatal crash to avoid recalls.
