Hello,

I’m writing to introduce myself and the service I work for as it might be of interest to your team.

You are possibly aware of our service already via my predecessor or through other sources.  I have recently taken over the role of caseworker and am trying to reach out to as many communities as possible.

Our service is commissioned by Brighton & Hove Council and consists of a free home safety visiting service and a low cost handyperson service.  Both these services are available to residents of Brighton & Hove meeting the necessary criteria and the aim of our service is to provide advice and practical assistance to enable residents to remain living in the home of their choice in greater safety and comfort.

The attached information leaflet provides information about the handyperson service.

My role of Caseworker is to provide help and signposting .  This service is free.  The sort of things I can discuss with customers are broad ranging and can be anything which is affecting their comfort or safety – often this relates to home security and safety (e.g, door chains and spy holes,  installation of smoke alarms) but we can also discuss benefits entitlement, community activities, home repairs and improvements, heating and insulation, community transport, mobility aids and alarms and all matters pertaining to safety and wellbeing. The service is really helpful for vulnerable people who don’t have regular support and find it difficult to access information.

The eligibility criteria for both services is:

-          aged 60 or over

-          disabled

-          single parent with a child under the age of 16

-          family with a child under the age of 5

If you would like some more information about the service I would be happy to come and meet you or could send some information leaflets through the post.  These are currently being updated.  Please feel free to pass my details to anyone else that you think might be interested.

Many thanks,

Kind regards,

Colette
