 Production dates: 21st to 27th July 2025 Artscape Opera House
  • The Mikado first opened in March 1885 making 2025 its 140th anniversary.
  • The Mikado or The Town of Titipu is a comic opera in two acts and ran at the Savoy Theatre for 672 performances, the second-longest run for any work of musical theatre.
  • The Mikado in Concert has no dialogue except for the two Master of Ceremonies who will introduce the story with interesting facts and anecdote regarding the genre
  • Audience will be entertained with an evening of excellent singing from both the main cast and the large chorus
  • All ages are welcome to audition.
  • Rehearsals will start on 5th May 2025
  • Rehearsals at Artscape with a few being held at Tygerberg High School.
  • All parts must be learned and no books(libretto) will be allowed on stage during the performances.

  • Auditions will be held at Artscape (Room 308)
    • Main 9 Characters and 2 Master of Ceremonies: - Saturday 15th March 2025, from 14h00
    • Call Backs for 9 Main Characters: - Sunday 16th March 2025, from 12h00 to 14h00
    • Chorus: - Sunday 16th March 2025. From 14h30
 
  • Auditionees auditioning for the 9 Main Characters are to please prepare both selected music pieces
 
  • Auditionees auditioning for the 9 Main Characters are to please audition for TWO of the 9 Main Character roles (thus preparing 4 of the selected audition pieces)
  Please arrive ½ an hour before your audition. Please prepare your audition pieces which you can find in the link below.

Please note that this is a community theatre production and there will therefore be no remuneration.
