Iam new to Ubuntu, so forgive me if this a very standard question:I installed QGIS 2.18 and all seems to work well. However, there is a major issue: the program uses a very strange font so I can't read anything? I tried to find something on the internet, but none seem to have the same issue.
(I have not personally done this, I've only dealt with OGR styles during import not export. In particular, I'm not sure how much of the OGR_STYLE mapping happens automatically during export from QGIS desktop vs whether you need to use special parameters with ogr2ogr etc.)
I also recall seeing somewhere that there was inconsistency between OGR drivers in font sizes, where sometimes the font size was the cap height and sometimes the em height, which can be significantly (say 50%) higher. Not sure how "huge" is the mismatch you're experiencing, but something to be aware of.
My second issue what that I did not understand the Symbology Scale item in the export process. I had left it at the default of 1:1000000 when I first exported. With a few experiments I found that 1:500 was what I needed.
You need to check at which scale your labels are visible then select that scale. Also after exporting into DXF the text comes as Mtext format so click on it select similar and then explode that block then you will change the size.

I'm making a UK phase 1 vegetation survey map and require to show the dominant plant species in a given polygon. In phase 1 these are shown as 2- or 3-letter codes e g Ri, Cys. These codes need to be located very precisely and as far as I can see, the various labelling options in QGIS do not allow sufficient precision. I am therefore trying to create point shapefiles for each dominant plant species. Is there a way of using multiple letters in the "font marker" symbol layer type?

My first thoughts about why it might not be working for you now is that Bubble has in the past few months changed policy regarding Google API keys. In the past they allowed hobby apps to not add keys, but now it is required, and the functionality of using geographic addresses requires the google api keys.
Yes, I have my own google api keys added to my app. And never received any error from bubble regarding rate limiting. I dont have problems to find the adresses. It works, It shows in the map. My problem is collecting the adresses from my costumers.

appname.bubbleapps.io/). After I added it (.
customdomain.com/), that did the trick.

Segoe UI just appears so much smoother than Arial / Tahoma when used on a ClearText capable setup, which I think is pretty much everything these days. It has a nice flow to it, nice open glyphs (no excessive hooks on the 'a' or 'e').
In particular the SemiBold weighting gives just that little bit more volume to each glyph than is in the standard Arial / Tahoma fonts, but not the excessive fill that occurs if the Bold weight is applied to either of those other fonts.
Hi Bevan, that's a coincidence! I was looking at our UI for some of ViewX and considered whether a switch to Segoe UI might help in some cases. For example, the mimic expression edit box uses Tahoma 8, and it is difficult to distinguish between double quotes and two single quotes. Segoe UI provides some minor difference. For that edit dialog, would this be helpful?
We recently started overhauling the UI of some of our utilities and Segoe UI is the winner. It gives the tools a completely different look and feel. The kerning as you mentioned is a bit concerning though just because the values take up significantly more real-estate.
@tfranklin The kerning of Segoe UI is quite nice, I find it more compact than an equivalent Tahoma / Arial (as you can see in Steve's comparison dogs..). But even with the more compact kerning, I still find Segoe UI just 'reads nicer'...
ITC Stone Sans II Com Condensed Semibold by Summer Stone is likely the font used for the National Geographic Channel logo. The font may have undergone minor modifications on certain letters. If you are looking for a free for personal use alternative you can try Pigiarniq font.
