I did some tests a few days ago when I noticed mail to a normal spam
trap address was coming through. Filtering on subject seemed to work but
Envelope-to despite appearing to work initially doesn't any more.
Steve.
They've changed the mail deliver system such that TO and X-Envelope-TO
all now just say 'yourd...@clara.co.uk' instead of
'emai...@yourdomain.clara.co.uk'.
That makes filtering on the email addy useless. It also breaks
turnpike's 'sent to particular user' feature. I moaned about it, and
clara support claimed to have emailed us and told us all about it, but
were unable to produce the email in question. Nor is it posted to
'announce' newsgroup (or here).

I wouldn't expect any answer from the "insert your own expletive in plural"
from ClaraNet !
I have asked a few questions here, & I asked support why no answer, & was
told the following...
QUOTE "As for our newsgroups these are not upheld by ourselves. They are
merely on the Giganews service because someone would have requested these
were added. We do not run these groups and therefore add no information to
them.

Even Steve R doesn't seem the same! he works for Tagadab now, We have
swapped a couple of e-mails he said he would look to see if he can do
anything (I really find it hard to believe that he's happy about his filter
system being crippled)
Oh hang on Tagadab are part of the clara group!!!
AND he hasn't replied to my last couple of e-mails...
I wouldn't hold out much hope for this place ever being any good again - I'm
in the process of moving a few domains, ADSLs, & anything connected with
this now shoddy outfit.
If I'm the last one out I won't even bother to shut the door ;o)
Sorry. I'm just really busy.
I'm afraid I'm not in a position to help. I left Claranet two years
ago and although the company I now run is in the Claranet group it's
completely separate operationally and I have absolutely no influence
over, or knowledge of, what goes on there, and nor should I have.
The people who run the mail system are pretty competent (I hired a lot
of them <g>), the mail system is extremely complex, and it is possible
that this loss of functionality is a totally unavoidable consequence
of improvements to scale the system or make it perform better or more
reliably. But that's just a guess. I really don't know.
steve
PS. I'm pretty sure this newsgroup is no longer anything to do with
Claranet. They may not even know it's here. I only discovered it
because I got a google alert for 'Tagadab'.

Thanks for the reply Steve,
No one like to have important changes forced on them without consultation, &
then have it blamed on the greater good.
I've just deleted the just typed massive paragraph venting my feelings!
what's the use!!!
