I received your email re the "Grants and I do not believe we have any firm connection except my Grants came from the "other side of Inverness....near Beauly (Strathglass) and your folks come from the other side near Grantown. I am enclosing 2 pages of the history of my Grant clan. John came over in the Ship Sarah of Liverpool(actually sailed out of Fort Williams) in 1801 to Pictou NS........between 1800 and 1815 over 15,000 Scots arrived in Pictou and many went to Ontario

1.  JOHN1 GRANT was born Abt. 1767 in Strathglass, Scotland, and died in Black River, Ant. Co., NS.  He married CATHERINE FRASER.  She was born Abt. 1771 in Strathglass, Scotland.

Notes for JOHN GRANT:

It is probable but not certain that John Grant and his wife Catherine (Fraser) immigrated in 1801 on the "Sarah of Liverpool" from Strathglass, Scotland to Pictou.  They are listed with 4 children; James 10, John 8, Alexander 6 and Donald 4.  The dob for these children matches the death records for the same.

Comment: Donald's death gives parent's names

7.  JOHN3 GRANT (JAMES2, JOHN1) was born Abt. 1818 in Black River, Ant. Co., NS.  He married MARY MCINTYRE Abt. 1846, daughter of DONALD MCINTYRE and NANCY FRASER.  She was born 1823 in Black Avon, Ant. Co., NS, and died 9 March 1892 in Black Avon, Ant. Co., NS26.

Notes for MARY MCINTYRE:

The St. Andrew's records indicate an Archibald born to John & Mary (McIntyre) but no other baptism records are available for the family (I don't have access to Heatherton records).  No further record for Archibald exists.  The 1871 & 1881 census records a Mary (widow) with 2 sons and a daughter (William, John, and Catherine).  This same Mary is recorded as dying in 1892 (Mrs. Mary Grant (McIntyre) widow of John, Black Avon leaving 2 sons and a daughter).  Either the record for Archibald is incorrect or he died young.
