Dear Clan Grant,

I start research of my ancestry, Malcom Grant (1762-1816) who come from Scotland directely to the little town, Rivière-du-Loup, QC. In fact, his father Thomas Angus Grant (1730-1802) was married at Janet Fraser the sister of Malcom Fraser (children of Donald Fraser of Strathsprey) who buy the seigniory of Rivière-du-Loup at the gouverneur James Muray in 1802.  In the book «Scottishs in Rivière-du-loup», the historian Jacqueline Ouellet, says the uncle of Malcom Grant, JOhn Grant, reverand in Perthshire, Albernathy, wrote at Malcom Fraser that his nephew lives in poor conditions. To help them, the Fraser family gives lands (abt 1803) at Malcom Grant and his wife Mary Smith in the seigniory of Rivière-du-Loup. My family still lives in this country.

Do you hear about this branch of Grant? Can you help me to retrace the family or the Clan of Thomas Angus Grant?

Thank you! and sorry for my english!

Hi, Julie,
You're surname is Grant. Do you have brothers or paternal uncles or cousins with your family surname Grant?  I am suggesting at least one of them do a Big Y DNA test and join the Grant DNA Project. Joining the Grant project will tell you which Group of Grants you belong to, will identify others tested and in the same group as yourselves and will give you access to very knowledgeable and helpful administrators and others who can help identify more about your grants. I would seriously consider this test as a major step in the right direction. In the meantime, I will repost your info with the FB page of this site in hope if it gaining more exposure -and a connection. Good luck!
Anita
