Iknow in our environment the broker server, connection gateway and the terminal servers are all on different networks in AWS and we needed to open the ports required for the licensing server between them.

Thank you for your answer. I did not not know about any sql interface. I was more thinking of just getting the information from the CONFIG structure somewhere (if it is in there...). lmserver, for example. But I'm not sure whether that's the actual used server or only a possible licence path.Do you know? And in case there are 2 license files which could apply, is there a way to find out which one has been used to check out a feature?

Hi,

I don't think there can be 2 license files for the same vendor and same license server. Can you please share a screen shot if you come across such situation? It would be really helpful if you could provide a screen shot regarding the config structure (lmserver) just to be on the same page.

I would like to have the possibility to verify that a license I check out is checked out the way I supect it to be. Having the possibilty to print something like (from inside my program which uses the flexlm libraries)

I know that I can override the lmpath for a certain daemon and that way make sure that only a certain path is used to search for licenses. But I would like to know whether there is a possiblity to find out which license.lic or server actually checked out a feature without setting specific lmpaths

Now I try to checkout featureNew from my program to verify that the licenseNew.lic on the sesrver is correct. The feature will check out nicesly because there exists a local license file with featureNew, but the license file on the server is wrong (because it contains the wrong feature name featureNewxx)

@chris58 - If a user has a local license file (such as for a Node-Locked license) then the check out of the license would not be recorded by the License Server and therefore not be available for reporting out of the FlexLM Report Logs.

Question was, can I, as a programmer and user of flexlm software, get the information where a feature is checked out by writing some lines of C code? Is the name of the license file and/or the name of the license server saved somewhere in a variable, member of a structure etc., so that I can retrieve that information?

I normally have access to two license seats on two separate license servers on our network (separate machines). These two servers are listed in my CDS_LIC_FILE variable. One of these licenses is not available either because someone else is using it or the service is not running. How can I find out which license is available and which is not? How can I find out if the license on the other server is checked out? How can I find out which computer has checked out this license?

We have run into a problem setting up our floating licenses. The server is up and running and the licenses are found with no problems during the installation. However, when starting CREO Parametric, the program is unable to connect to the license server... Initially, the port was blocked, but before that issue was lifted, the server wasn't even found during the installation.

You can do that in two ways:

1. Log in to license server web interface, go to Administration (upper right corner) and then go to Vendor Daemon Configuration, select ptc_d and then configure vendor port.

2. Go to installation location of the license server (C:\Program Files\PTC\FLEXnet Admin License Server), go into Licensing directory, edit license.dat (even with Notepad, it's a simple text file) and find

line. At the end of the line add port number you want to use (similar to 7788 in the SERVER line above) and save the file.

Restart license server service and ptc_d should be using only specified port.

@TSiik, As suggested by @LukaszMazur, you can add the Vendor Daemon port by editinig the license file and then restart the service. Further add Vendor Daemon port in the firewall exception as well. Hope this helps you resolve the issue.

I apologize if this question is somewhere in this troubleshooting forum, I couldn't figure out how to search it. Forewarning, I know next to nothing about Vectorworks and my network knowledge is limited.

I have inherited the Mac Management on our college campus and we are having issues with Vectorworks 2018. Upon launch, it typically crashes. When it doesn't, we attempt to login with find the server automatically and it says that it can't find a server.

We use the dongle method for licensing, and all systems are "go" for the dongle. I can connect to localhost:5053 on the server and connect to the Sentinel Admin Control Center. It recognizes our Sentinel Key with Vendor information and Key ID. I have verified the license file is in the correct folder and the number matches our Serial Number. The computer lab is on the same network as the lab.

I imagine, that Vectorworks must send some kind of broadcast to find the license server which isn't answered. Must be some security policy on the server, I guess. Like port 5053 which could be closed to broadcasts or sth like that. What do you know about that?

I have tried for two days now. On line chat twice, even waited THREE HOURS on the phone (while being drive slowly insane by that horrible "rock" music) and no one has been able to help. They have given me online links which have solved NOTHING! I need a human being to walk me through this nightmare. The user's laptop gets a message that it cannot find the server IP address.

I obtained a license file for both my renewed subscription and the new one in a single file, and it apparently is being read by the server, but the client machine cannot find the server to obtain a license. So far I have several thousand dollars worth of vaporware.

It sounds like you a few different types of Autodesk software in your license file. So is this person or laptop only one experiencing the issue? If so is this person remote or a long distance from your license server? Do they use VPN to log into your system? Have you checked the firewall settings on this laptop? Are they running wireless or on a docking station?

Last Friday I installed AutoCAD 2019 (I want to run the same version as the existing contract) using my credentials on the laptop. It launched and ran. Then I had the user log on with her credentials, and that's when this nightmare all started.

I can still launch AutoCAD 2019 from my own desktop. It was installed under the first contract. We also have a user in Colorado, who is also able to work from her location under the original contract.

I thought we were talking about a network license product but you last reply sounds like you are trying to activate by signing in with your Autodesk Account... Network based product do not required Autodesk Account info.

Just now it told me

"Network License Not Available

Common causes: all licenses are in use, the server is down, or the license has expired.

Contact your System Administrator or support."

Below that is says Error [-96.7.11001]

My user in Colorado said she would be working in AutoCAD after lunch, but that only takes one of two licenses. There are only three people listed as users: the Colorado user, the Local (Arizona) user and myself. Neither the Arizona user nor I have it running.

I understand I can have up to eight users per contract, and only one person can use the seat at any time. At this time, I have assigned Colorado and me to the original, and Arizona and me to the new one. There are no other users assigned.

In the LMTOOLS, go to the config service and type in a new service name and the rest of the fields will become blank. Navigate to the located where the related LMGRD.exe is location. Browse to your license file that you just generated and leave the path or the information for the log file. Select the two options at the bottom (from left to right) and then select to save the services. Go back to the Start/Stop/Reread tab and make sure the new service that you just created is highlighted and select the service to start. Does it work now?

We have multiple license servers set up, and a few of us point to more than one. Any easy way of telling which license server I am using for a session?

Nothing in Help/About

Nothing in the fourms I could find

Actually, DOORS prefers to use the registry entries over the environment variable. However that is not the issue. I have multiple license servers I am pointing to, but I never know which one actually had a free license for me to consume (this is all floating). What I am looking for is a way to query the client to see which license server I am using a license from. I am not the IT Admin, so I do not have access to Flex logs on all servers.

"my" TELELOGIC_LICENSE_FILE=19353@Flexserver1;19353@Flexserver2;19353@Flexserver3

So, any DXL query? any file that can be looked at?
