Tableau connectors require a driver to talk to the database. Before you can connect to data sources from Tableau Server, you must install drivers for the data sources you want to connect to. You can find driver links and installation instructions for all the supported connectors on the Driver Download page(Link opens in a new window).
You need to install the drivers for your data sources on the initial node in a Tableau Server cluster. If you install Tableau Server on multiple nodes, you must also install drivers on any node that runs any of the following processes:
This connector requires a driver to talk to the database. You might already have the required driver installed on your computer. If the driver is not installed on your computer, Tableau displays a message in the connection dialog box with a link to the Driver Download(Link opens in a new window) page where you can find driver links and installation instructions.
Beginning with version 2020.2, Tableau recommends that you use the JDBC driver (available from the Driver Download(Link opens in a new window) page) with this connector. The newer JDBC driver resolves some limitations found with the OCI driver, such as no spatial support or Kerberos delegation on Linux.
I downloaded Tableau Desktop easy peasy but now for the life of me, can't figure out the Microsoft SQL driver. I go to the page linked & it says "The Microsoft SQL Server connector uses Simba SQL Server drivers." And that I should (rather unhelpfully) contact support for assistance.
i have a macbook with tableau desktop. i am trying to connect to snowflake, but tableau is not recognizing the snowflake odbc driver. i followed the steps in snowflake documentation to install the drivers. the files are in the correct folders, but i don't think the driver is actually installing.

The CData JDBC Driver for Tableau CRM offers the most natural way to connect to Tableau CRM data from Java-based applications and developer technologies. The driver wraps the complexity of accessing Tableau CRM data in an easy-to-integrate, 100%-Java JDBC driver. Applications can then access Tableau CRM as a traditional database. The driver hides the complexity of accessing data and provides additional powerful security features, smart caching, batching, socket management, and more.Key Features
