Clairemont Beautification Sought

Hello Ray and All:
I walk, ride and drive around Clairemont and Bay Ho daily. I love this place, and care deeply about it. It is for this reason, I would like to bring to your attention three problems that I would love to see timely and consistently addressed: I have noticed an uptick in 1) Potholes, especially on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. b/w Clairemont Drive and Luna; and on Morena b/w Balboa and Avati; 2) Graffiti/Tagging on poles, utility boxes, fences and signs on Moraga; at the base of Avati; on Clairemont Mesa b/w Clairemont Drive and Moraga, and around Alcott Elem.; and on Hidalgo street b/w Jemez and Naugatack; and 3) Trash (plastic and cigarette butts, especially after trash day, but every day on every street; especially; Moraga, and also on Clairemont Mesa in the canyon and on the Clairemont Mesa exit from the 52 westbound.
Yes, Clairemont is a wonderful neighborhood; but we have much to do to improve it. I make as many calls to the Urban Corps. and the City of S.D. as possible, and pick up trash when I am out and about, but can you please tell me: Is someone on the CTC working on these issues?
I have offered at least three times to lead a "beautification committee" or whatever label you would like to give it. Please, let's not turn a blind eye to these critical ongoing issues. Rather, let us join forces and nip these glaring problems in the bud, and really make Clairemont shine!

Lori, I do appreciate your input and your ideas e-mails.
We do have a Beautification Committee for CTC and there's been some recent interest in getting that going again. So, if you're available, can you make it to our next CTC Board Meeting on the 28th? We meet at 7:00pm at Sandwich Emporium.
We can chat about some ideas at that time.
Specifically regarding the areas you mentioned, I went on a ride-along with Councilman Kevin Faulconer and showed him some much-needed attention areas along Clairemont Drive. Hopefully, we can see some action in getting our potholes filled in a timely manner.
Keep in mind, there's a lot of areas that need attention in this community. Now that we have two city councilmembers hopefully things can start getting improved. But -- we do need to get that Beautification Committee up and running again.
