Beloved friends,
Welcome to our first newsletter on the Web.
Writing to you, in this newsletter, feels
like so many other things in the Commune:
something beautiful is created ... and we
never know who is going to come and enjoy it.
We're very curious!
There is a never-ending and ever-changing
flux of people here. If you had come, for
instance, during the Master's Day Full Moon
Festival a month ago, you would have been
swept up in a tide of joyous, celebrating,
dancing and laughing people mostly from
India. This is "their" festival, and no
matter how many other nationalities are here
at the time, Osho's people from India absorb
us into their unique festive flavor for those
few days. Whereas right now, we have tour
groups from Taiwan, Japan, Brazil, Germany
and Italy (see Osho Tours); we have an Osho
Center conference with participants from 25
different countries (see Buddhafield
Intensive); and people from all over the
world are spending their annual vacations at
the Commune. The faces change, the caravan
continues, the buddhafield grows.
*Tribute to Osho: Osho 2000*
This week an enormous, worldwide project was
announced and launched in Buddha Hall: a
worldwide Tribute to Osho to be held at the
turn of the century and throughout the year
2000. It will start with a 6-week festival
here in Pune, from Osho's birthday 11th
December, 1999 - 19th January, 2000. After
that it continues around the world, with
Tributes to Osho in all countries throughout
the year 2000.
*Why did we choose this time for a Tribute*
*to Osho?*
In His English talks alone, Osho mentions the
end of this century 250 times, and its
tremendous potential for the whole humanity
-- the choice of global suicide or a jump in
consciousness. Most of the world's
politicians and vested interests seem to be
set on the course of global suicide, global
self-destruction. Osho invites His people to
contribute to a jump in consciousness -- not
with political campaigns, not with doomsday
seriousness, but with our meditation and
celebration.
And the 19th of January, 2000, marks 10 years
of Osho's leaving the body.
If ever, then now, Osho provides a beautiful
excuse for His people -- sannyasins,
sympathizers, everyone who is touched by Osho
and His vision in their lives -- to do
something. We take the opportunity to invite
everyone to be co-creators in a Tribute to
Osho and at the same time to playfully create
a positive, transformative ripple through the
world.
*Festival in Osho Commune International:*
*11th December, 1999 - 19th January, 2000*
Everyone is invited to come here during this
time, for however many days or weeks you can.
This Commune is Osho's own creation, His
international experiment beyond nations,
races and religions -- where we all learn
from each other and respect each other's
unique individuality. It is a meeting place
of friends, a melting pot for transformation.
Osho says, "Anybody who comes here will be
overwhelmed. These trees are no longer
ordinary -- they are sannyasins. The very air
has a different vibe: even when you go away,
your song, your dance, your joy go on
vibrating here."
The festival program includes the full range
of Osho's meditations and meditative
therapies, plus a wide variety of day-time
activities, cultural events, shows,
exhibitions and concerts. People who have
integrated into their professional work what
they have received and understood from Osho's
vision and presence are invited to be here as
our guests, to offer their contribution -
artists, writers, poets, musicians,
therapists, meditation leaders.
Hotel bookings, charter and commercial
flights, group tours, and country by country
advance registration are being facilitated
for festival participants.
Throughout the world: the whole year 2000
From here in the Commune we will actively
support the creation of Tributes to Osho all
over the world -- country by country, city by
city, however feels appropriate for Osho's
friends who live and work worldwide. Everyone
can choose their own time, their own way. We
will come from Pune, wherever invited, to
strengthen and honor these Tributes.
We envisage cultural events, book releases,
book exhibitions, art exhibitions, concerts,
sannyasin festivals, the creation of a
Tribute to Osho music CD with tracks
contributed by both sannyasins and others,
and so on.
When Osho talks of His people, He does not
mean only His sannyasins. He says there are
many other people who love Him and want to
help in His work. This Tribute will also
provide an opportunity for friends of Osho
who are renowned in their own fields, to
express their appreciation and respect
towards Osho in a way that fits their public
lives.
And for His sannyasins and friends all over
the world, it is of course an opportunity to
create big celebrations, to work together in
harmony and creative chaos; and in the
process to invite a conscious jump in our
energy and consciousness. Osho reminds that
we are all individuals, unique, alone -- our
connection with Him individual and direct --
and this individual connection creates a
certain love towards each other. A Tribute to
Osho is the perfect vehicle in which to share
that love.
An enormous project -- with, as usual, lots
to do, in very little time! Everyone is
invited to contact us with their ideas,
contributions and practical suggestions. You
can send them directly by email to
tribu...@osho.net
[...]
It has been a joy writing to you. We will be
happy to hear from you as well.
Much love,
Ma Prem Garimo
