The Together-We Build Campaign

Honoring Circle K International’s birthplace

Dear Friends,

Circle K International held its very first meeting some fifty-five years ago in the Bryan Auditorium on the former Carthage College Campus in Carthage, Illinois. This became the birthplace of Circle K International, and while the organization has gone on to see growth and prosperity, the auditorium building has not. For the past seventeen years, it has been sitting dormant as a structural disaster. But today, the community of Carthage, Illinois, and Carl Sandburg College are working to bring the building back to life and restore its status as a premier performing arts facility.

The Charger Community Center Auditorium Campaign will provide a portion of the funding necessary for this renovation project. Because of the historic significance as the location of the first Circle K International meeting, we invite you to join with us and financially support the renovation campaign. Participation from Kiwanis International members and the Kiwanis Family Partners will provide support to a worthy project as well as serve as a lasting tribute to Circle K. Discussions with Carl Sandburg College have included such ideas as establishing a Circle K archival display in the facility, creating a permanent plaque to honor the first meeting and recognizing financial contributors of the project.

By honoring Circle K International’s birthplace in the auditorium, you are not only giving recognition to CKI’s founders, but you are continuing the tradition these young people started fifty-five years ago with two simple words—“We Build.” Your tax-deductible donation will serve to support the renovations along with supporting the Circle K and Kiwanis legacy. A gift made in honor or in memory of a fellow Kiwanian or a Kiwanis Club or Circle K Club is one of the most meaningful types of gifts. Please join us and send in your donation today (a donation form and original letter is attached).

Sincerely,

Rob Carson, Campaign Chair, Carthage Kiwanis Club

Paul Palazzolo, President, Kiwanis International
