CKI Weekly Update | 12.22.2010
Published for District Administrators and Governors | Circle K International

You survived
The shortest day of year was yesterday! That means most of us (depending on your latitude and longitude) gained an extra minute of daylight today. How did you use it? Six months from today, we will have just celebrated the longest day of the year and have lost a minute of daylight; however, most of us will be in Virginia Beach for the opening of the International Convention and probably will not let that 60-second loss of daylight affect us too much. A lot of information is coming about the convention and LSSP in the next two months. All information, as it is updated, will be posted to the convention website (www.circlek.org/convention<http://www.circlek.org/convention>). Your district will receive promotional materials to distribute at your district conventions as well as a video to show which will highlight the convention. Last week, the 2010 LSSP highlight video was finished and uploaded to YouTube. You can find it at the following link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geIVTNjykA8.

Request from the Research and Development Committee
Your input is very important to the success of international level organizations. To fulfill two actions steps for two Research and Development Committee's directives, the committee is asking for your input to the following questions. Please answer as honestly and completely as possible to insure the best final report.

You can find the survey at the following link:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/R6MDM6R

Please complete the survey by January 10, 2011 so the committee can start working with these answers for this year's events. To make it easier in completing the online version, the questions within the survey are listed below (but use the link to the survey to respond):

LARGE SCALE SERVICE PROJECT/INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION

1)      Does your district hold a District Large Scale Service Project? If so please answer the following questions:

a.     How long does it last?

b.     Do you have specific fellowship activities at your District Large Scale Service Project, if so what are they?

c.     How do you publicize/encourage attendance at your District Large Scale Service Project?

d.     What are some differences between your District Large Scale Service Project and CKI's Large Scale Service Project?

2)      Would you like to have a large-scale hands-on service project at ICON? If so, what would you suggest?

3)      Surveys show that one of the major reasons CKI members attend ICON is for fellowship opportunities. What successful fellowship activities does your district implement at your annual convention?

KIWANIS FAMILY RELATIONS
Key Club:

1)      What programs, events, or resources does your district provide for CKI clubs recruiting former Key Club members?

2)      Does your district hold a CKI recruitment session at Key Club District Convention? If so, explain the session and assess its effectiveness.

3)      Do you find the CKI membership interest form an effective tool for Key Club recruitment into CKI?

4)      Are there adequate international resources from CKI to recruit Key Club members? What resources do/would you find helpful?

5)      What benefits have you found from former Key Club members joining CKI?

6)      Would you support an international incentive program for Key Club member recruitment into CKI?
Kiwanis

1)      On a scale of 1 (Not important) to 5 (Almost vital), how important do you believe is the promotion of Kiwanis to CKI members?

2)      What programs and resources does your district or Kiwanis district provide to promote Kiwanis to CKI members?

3)      What do you find to be the biggest obstacle to recruiting CKI members to Kiwanis?

4)      Do you receive adequate support from you Kiwanis counterparts in promoting Kiwanis and its related organizations to CKI members? If not, what improvements are necessary?

Office closure
Just a reminder that Kiwanis International will close at noon on Friday and reopen on Monday, January 3.
