Hi All,
And Happy Adar 7 to everyone! At our zayin Adar dinner last night, a newish member asked me why the tachrichim cover everything except the hands. I've never been asked that question before. My off-the-cuff response was that the whole focus of tachrichim is that their are no knots holding the fabric together and the knots we tie are slip knots so when the Messiah comes, people can easily emerge from the grave, remove their burial clothes, and return to life. You would need your hands for that, so that's why they are left uncovered. Does anyone have a better answer? I told our member I would get back to him. Thanks in advance.
