I followed some old threads last year on this topic

I just have a question if there is a current recommended fix for the modifier key situation?
I upgraded to Mojave, and the second I enable ckb-next the modifier keys (which I had switched to be capslock->cmd, cmd->opt, optin->cmd) no longer work. If I disable ckb-next they work fine but I lose all the cool RGB (Which is why I bought this keyboard in the first place :( )

Any recommendations to resolve? The modifier keys as a dev are a deal breaker, the RGB are not. Hoping someone has a solution :)

I figured it out, actually.

Turns out the windows key and the alt key are switched in ckb. Updating anywhere where I needed cmd (ie, capslock) to option resolved the issue

WEIRD.

I'm sure this is a bug

Have you perhaps changed the global modifiers under the "settings" tab?
Those override the bindings in the profiles/modes.

Of course.
As you can see from my screenshots I had to invert the two settings per my original comment.
When CKB is disabled, the modifier keys work. When CKB is enabled, they also work if you swap option and cmd. This seems very broken
