When I use xev to look at the events from the keyboard I observe that when I press the
CapsLock key I get both a press and a release event, but when I then release
the key I do not get any additional event.

This is a problem for me because I want to remap the key to be a Hyper Key, but
since it gives both the press and release event it does not work as a modifier
key because it looks like it is release before I have a chance to hit another key.

Do you think these events are both happening in the hardware, or is there
something in the ckb-next software that is causing this?

Thanks,

Richard L Ford

Try stopping ckb-daemon (sudo systemctl stop ckb-daemon) and try with xev again.

If there is any difference, it is probably because of ckb-daemon, and would require fixing.
If not, and you are sure ckb-daemon isn't running (can check with ps), then it is most likely a hardware issue.
